About

Tiny Space, a creative initiative co-founded by Tim and his team in Berlin, was created 2.5 years ago in response to the growing demand for flexible workspace in the post-pandemic era. Initially conceived as a direct-to-consumer (D2C) concept, the founders sought to bridge the gap between coworking spaces, cafes and working from home. After testing D2C for a while, Tiny Space pivoted to a B2B strategy, targeting large trade shows and events where the units could serve as mobile meeting rooms. The shift allowed them to showcase their product to thousands of potential customers. Now, the company is focused on scaling production, sales, operations to continue expanding.

Tiny Space’s journey has been one of innovation, adaptability and collaboration. Finding the right partners for sourcing and production was a key challenge, and it was through a Google search that they discovered Cutr. After an initial enquiry, conversations began and the team realized that Cutr would offer the expertise and network they needed. Building trust was essential, as finding reliable partners who could provide clear quotes and expertise proved to be one of their biggest hurdles.

Julian, the Head of Product and Sourcing for Tiny Space, works closely with the Cutr team to navigate the technical aspects of construction and sourcing. For Julian, the partnership with Cutr has been invaluable. Without Cutr, Tiny Space would have had to find, vet and manage suppliers themselves, which would have been both time consuming and challenging.

The Challenge

The project itself took seven months to complete the first office, a timeline influenced by both the need for fundraising and logistical challenges. Fundraising was essential as the initial goal was to build 50 office spaces, but securing the capital took longer than expected. This and some other unforeseen hurdles, like a municipality that didn’t work in their favor, pushed the timeline back four months.

The Solution

The entire procurement process was different from what Tiny Space had originally anticipated, but despite the tight timeline and complex logistics, the team managed to deliver on time.

Ultimately, the partnership with Cutr, and the project management team in particular, was greatly appreciated by the Tiny Space team. Julian, who oversaw the technical aspects, found it invaluable to have a team that could both understand and translate the intricate details of the production process. Cutr acted as a partner on both the strategic and operational sides of the project, helping the team to make informed decisions and ensuring that the right partners were chosen.

The Future

Looking ahead, Tiny Space is optimistic about continuing its relationship with Cutr. Reflecting on their first project together, Tiny Space looks forward to working with Cutr again.
